Wilson Wood woke up with a mystery.  The mystery took a form most men would love, a shapely blonde in his bed.  Who is she and how did she get there?  Solving this riddle should be a snap for an experienced news reporter like Wilson Wood.  He is a sports reporter for the Gulf City newspaper and is best known for his coverage of the local fight scene.  But truth be told, Wilson is not much of a reporter, preferring to chase skirts instead of stories.   That is a shame, because he is about to find himself in the middle of a much bigger mystery – the murder of Rocket Richards, an aging boxer who fought on last night's card.   With much reluctance, Wilson is cajoled into following the few available clues to find out who killed the Rocket. Along the way, he gets a glimpse of the dark side of Gulf City and uncovers more than he bargained for.
